Adoption Process:
TSCHS follows an adoption process that helps place dogs and cats in a safe loving home. We will help you select an animal that will be a good match for your household and family. A two page adoption application must be completed before an adoption can be approved. You must be 21 years of age or older with a valid form of picture identification to adopt an animal. We recommend that all household members are present during the adoption process. If you have other dogs in the home and you are considering adopting another dog, we recommend you bring your other dog with you so we can make sure the dogs will get along. We cannot guarantee that a dog is housebroken or a cat is litter box trained. We will share observations from our staff, but each dog/cat will need to acclimate to their new household and may have accidents while they are settling in to their new households. Puppies will require training, so please be prepared to provide the time necessary for your new pet.
TSCHS strives to find adoptable homes for as many of our animals as possible but we do reserve the right to refuse an adoption to anyone. When you have selected a pet, and your adoption application has been approved, you can generally take your pet home the same day. If the animal that you have selected is not ready to go home yet (too young or needs to be spayed or neutered), in order to reserve the animal for you, we require that the adoption fee be paid in full.
Adoption Fees:
$100 for Adult Dogs, $150 for Puppies and $60 for Senior Dogs (7+ years old). Adult Cats $75, Kittens $100 and Senior Cats (5+ years old) $30. All our animals are current on vaccinations, dewormed and on flea preventative. Cats are tested for feline leukemia/aids, dogs (if old enough) are tested for heartworms, spayed or neutered and microchipped, adopters will also receive a small bag of the Science Diet food they have been eating in the shelter. A leash and a collar is provided for each dog adopted from the shelter.
